Located in Group 7 and Period 6 of the Periodic Table is one of the element used to make jet engines. This is Rhenium.
Ida Noddack |
First discovered in 1925 by Walter Noddack, Ida Tacke, and Otto Berg, first isolated also by Walter Noddack, Ida Noddack, and Otto Berg in 1925.
Rhenium is generally considered to have been discovered by Walter Noddack, Ida Noddack, and Otto Berg in Germany. In 1925 they reported that they had detected the element in platinum ore and in the mineral columbite. They also found rhenium in gadolinite and molybdenite.
Gadolinite |
So, in 1928, Noddack and Berg were able to extract 1 gram of rhenium from 660 kilograms of Molybdenite. And Because of this, Noddack and Berg are made as the official discoverers of Rhenium.
